The Maspalomas Dunes
Maspalomas is known worldwide for its beaches and hotels, but among all this tourist activity there is a natural oasis full of life. It is a vast area of 4 square kilometres of sand dunes formed by sea organism remains. There is also a palm grove and a small lagoon of seawater called Charca de Maspalomas (Maspalomas Pool), which shelters and feeds a great number of migratory birds in the winter. In the dunes, some plants and animals have adapted to the sandy habitat such as a Gran Canarian endemic beetle (Pimelia granulicollis).
The track runs throughout the Natural Reserve and there are several options regarding the length of the path.
