Discover Inagua Route and the Route of St. James

Explore the first two routes of this amazing adventure: Gran Canaria Walking Festival 2017.

The 6th Gran Canaria Walking Festival edition will start on 8th of November 2017, taking off in “La Aldea de San Nicolás”  with the Inagua Route. The route will have approximately 10km long, where the most intrepid hikers will have the opportunity of enjoying nature and of course, endemic places and species.

The route will take off in “La Degollada de La Aldea”, followed by “El Visco”, “El Blanquizal”, “El Pinillo” and finally “La Aldea”. Once again, the enigmatic historic centre of “La Aldea”, will be the place where all hikers will have the opportunity to taste typical products and dishes thanks to all our sponsors and thanks to La Aldea´s town hall collaboration, being also in charge of showing all hikers the most beautiful places of this part of the island and making possible their enjoyment with nature.

One again, Gran Canaria Walking Festival staff appreciates the collaboration of the different agencies involved, especially La Aldea´s town hall, being the most important one in this part of the stage. After enjoying Inagua´s route, Gran Canaria Walking Festival will move on to a new stage, the Route of St. James. With approximately 10km long, this route is considered to be a medium difficulty route and differences in high. However, the route will let all hikers enjoy the most beautiful places of this part of the island, finishing in one of the most iconic places of the island, “San Bartolomé de Tirajana”. More information is provided visiting turismo.maspalomas.com, where hikers can also find information about the route and about the most important places and natural attractions of this part of the island. We would like to thank the Villa de San Bartolomé de Tirajana town hall for giving us the opportunity to enjoy this incredible route.

St. James route will take off in “Los Llanos de La Pez”, being one of the most iconic places of the island, also considered to be one of the most especial and beautiful places to enjoy nature. The route will continue across “Altos de Hornos”, followed by “Llanos de pargana”, “Paso de La Plata” y “Cruz Grande”, finishing in the Little village of “Santiago de Tunte”, a place where nature, culture and history lives in perfectly harmony. Considered to be also one of the most important archaeological places of the Canary Islands, “Santiago de Tunte” offers the opportunity to all hikers of being part of its own culture through it caves and cave paintings, being one of the most visited attractions of this place and considered to be main ikon of this little village.

Once again, hikers will have the opportunity of enjoying and tasting typical products and dishes at the end of the stage in “Las Tirajanas” Hotel.
