Cheese Route

Fancy mixing two of your passions? Asoflor (La Casa del Queso) will help you to get your strength back with its unique, traditional cheeses, as a reward for your walk from the sea up to the summit.

This route is a real joy, as it runs partly along the famous Camino de Santiago and the trade paths which were used years ago to cross the island. The “picón” volcanic rubble shows us how the island was born from convulsive volcanic activity, while the ancient footpaths are still used by cattle, allowing us to imagine a time of busy movement of goods together with migrating animals, around century-old pine trees which still stand, revealing the tiny village of Montaña Alta, which sprang up at the end of the 18th century.
