The second edition of the Gran Canaria Walking Festival was celebrated from the 5th to the 12th of October, 2013.
On this occasion, five routes were organized in order to present different landscapes of this "miniature continent": The Volcanoes of la Isleta, Barranco del Andén, Cruz de Tejeda - Artenara - Acusa seca - Acusa Verde, Aco del Coronadero and Caldera de Bandama. 220 participants from 8 different countries walked a total of 49.1 km of beautiful nature through the island of Gran Canaria.
Some activities were also organized to show more about the culture of this island. These activities were about the Archaeological Heritage or the understanding of the countryside.
CALDERA DE BANDAMA
La Caldera de Bandama is one of the most important elements of the volcano island of Gran Canaria.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is one of the few cities in the world that can say they possess a volcanic area in their environment. La Isleta, a space with the undeniable geological and landscape value, inside the area a variety of volcanic structures (tubes, cones, archeological sites) can be observed.
